Getting started with the app

The Exovo app is a compact desktop softphone for Windows that connects to your system over the same encrypted tunnel the SBC uses — one outbound connection from the PC, mutual TLS, no VPN and no port forwarding. Calls ring on the PC with your headset, and chat, SMS, voicemail, presence and the directory are all live views of the same system the web client shows. It's designed as a fixed-width companion that sits beside your other work, with light and dark themes matching the web client.

The app is a free download for anyone on an Exovo system. iOS and Android apps are in development on the same foundation — see the roadmap.

Installing

Get the app from the download page. It ships as a signed MSIX package: download the small .appinstaller file and double-click it — Windows App Installer shows the publisher (M-TEC SYSTEMS, INC.) and installs the app per-user, no administrator rights needed. Prefer a one-liner? Add-AppxPackage -AppInstallerFile https://www.exovo.tel/download/Exovo.appinstaller does the same from PowerShell. Once installed the app checks for updates on its own and upgrades quietly in the background — there is nothing to maintain.

Signing in

Start the app and enter your system's address (the same FQDN you use for the web client). The app fetches that system's own sign-in options — the same ones the web client login offers, including your identity provider if SSO is configured — and you sign in as yourself.

Signing in enrolls the device automatically: the app obtains its tunnel certificate, registers as one of your extension's devices, and gains data access, shown as a short setup checklist. There is nothing to configure by hand — no SIP server, no ports, no credentials to copy.

Pairing codes

Prefer not to type a password into a device? Any signed-in web client can mint a one-time pairing code from the Provision apps button. Enter the code in the app instead of signing in with credentials — it works once and expires. (The same dialog offers a QR code, which is for the mobile apps to come.)

Where enrolled devices live

Every enrolled app appears under Admin → Connectivity → Mobile, listed per user with its certificate status. Revoking a device there cuts off both its calling and its data access in one action — the right response to a lost or retired machine.

One extension, many devices

The app registers alongside your desk phone and the web client — the same one identity, many devices model. Incoming calls ring everywhere; answer wherever you are. Presence, history and voicemail stay unified across all of them.
